Read an update on our Dream Big initiative.
In 2018, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. announced its goal to put 2.5 million girls in the S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) pipeline by 2025. Here are GSOH, we are supporting this through our Dream Big Initiative. Through this initiative we will reimagine the 220-acre Camp Ken-Jockety and create a STEM immersive campus. Programs will provide girls with the tools necessary to create pathways to in-demand careers and bridge the gender gap in the STEM field . We have exciting updates to share since the last time we shared our Dream Big initiative with you. We are 70% to our goal thanks to the funding of incredible partners across Ohio. Notably, we received $1.5 million in the State Capital Budget and our most recent gift of $25,000 from Park National Bank to help us fund this dream. These are exciting numbers, but we still have so much work to do, and we need your help!
Additionally, we are excited to be giving Intel a tour of our Camp Ken Jockety grounds and share our vision for the new STEM Center . As Intel plans to bring its newest site to Columbus, Ohio, the STE M possibilities for girls have never been more relevant.
Girl Scouts have always been at the forefront of change. This initiative is no different. Our impact will not be with Girl Scouts alone, but with girls across Ohio – though this initiative is powered by Girl Scouts, our entire community will reap the benefits. This campus, once up and running, can be utilized by school groups, other non-profits, and community partners increasing our impact tenfold.
We will give girls the opportunity to explore these opportunities in their formative years so that they can see the possibilities right in front of their eyes and realize the many opportunities available to them in the future.
Our facility will be equipped with hands-on programs, interactive lessons, research, development, and the tools and resources to ignite young female minds.
With our leading partners, Battelle, American Electric Power Foundation, Corna Kokosing, and Nationwide Foundation, we are 70% closer to $16 million goal, but we still have so much work to do to make this dream a reality.
We are planning on breaking ground early next year, but we cannot do it without your help!
Imagine the impact you will have by supporting our initiative. Girls not only in our council, but across Ohio, will begin to blossom in their STEM confidence and awareness with your help. Thank you to our partners who have stepped up. For those of you who have yet to donate, we encourage you to do so for this important initiative in our community.
